According to a source from the publication, Kostin has "long been asking to step down."
"He really did nothing in that prosecutor's office. After the scandal involving the prosecutors, it was impossible not to react. Right now, finding a candidate for the Attorney General position is a huge challenge. The candidate must be clean and 'unblemished', competent, and, to put it simply, very few would agree to take on this role at the moment. It's nothing but problems, and you would be destroyed reputationally. Therefore, there is no talk of new people at all; there are no candidates," the source told UP.
For now, according to him, the issues regarding the appointment of a new Attorney General will not be put to a vote in the Verkhovna Rada. The draft resolution on the parliament's consent to Kostin's dismissal has already been submitted to the Rada by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
