Biden has commented for the first time on the ousting of Assad. On Sunday, the U.S. military conducted 75 airstrikes in Syria.

He promised American support to the country during the transitional period. The head of the White House plans to call leaders of Middle Eastern nations "in the coming days." Additionally, a group of American officials is preparing to depart for Syria.

"This is a historic moment when the long-suffering people of Syria have the opportunity to build a better future for their proud nation. It is also a moment of risk and uncertainty. As we all turn to the question of what comes next, the United States will work with our partners and stakeholders in Syria to help them seize this opportunity and manage the risks," the president stated.

Biden noted that in recent days, the U.S. has conducted dozens of airstrikes in Syria as part of its efforts against Islamists, aiming to prevent the resurgence of the terrorist group ISIS. He "clearly recognizes the fact that ISIS will attempt to exploit any vacuum to restore its capabilities and create a safe haven."

The head of the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Eric Kurilla, confirmed that on December 8, B-52 bombers, F-15 fighters, and A-10 aircraft struck over 75 ISIS targets.

"There should be no doubt – we will not allow ISIS to rebuild and take advantage of the current situation in Syria. All organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they collaborate with ISIS or support it in any way," his statement published on the command's website reads.
