The Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the Prosecutor General have gathered evidence of treason against a current member of parliament. This was reported by the press center of the SBU.

According to the case materials, the individual systematically engaged in information subversive activities in favor of the aggressor state.

In particular, it is noted that the MP widely disseminated Russian propaganda fakes regarding events in our country and its foreign policy course, and between October and November 2024, spread distorted information about the command of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and public sentiments within our state. To promote Kremlin narratives, he actively utilized his channels on the video hosting platform YouTube and Telegram, as well as broadcasts on Ukrainian and adversarial media.

"An independent examination confirmed the facts of the individual's criminal actions detrimental to the defense capability and information security of Ukraine. Additionally, during the pre-trial investigation, data was obtained indicating that from 2020 to 2023, the MP repeatedly visited Belarus, where he communicated with the leadership of that state and established 'schemes' for purchasing electricity and ammonia fertilizers at reduced prices for companies under his control. Subsequently, the affiliated commercial structures sold the respective resources at artificially inflated prices to gain excessive profits," the message states.

As indicated by the case materials, the MP involved front persons in the implementation of these deals, including non-residents of his controlled firms.

Based on the evidence obtained, the MP has been notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason). The issue of selecting a preventive measure for him is being resolved. The investigation continues. The offender faces up to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation.

A source from UNIAN in law enforcement stated that the individual in question is Yevhen Shevchenko.

As reported by UNIAN, earlier, member of the "Restoration of Ukraine" parliamentary group Yevhen Shevchenko called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to "start a dialogue" with Russia via Telegram. He also offered his assistance and expressed a willingness to travel to Minsk for this purpose.

Subsequently, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, wrote on Telegram that some members of parliament are confused about issues of security, interests, and Ukraine's future.

In particular, as noted by the head of the OP, if in the minds of these MPs "national interests equate to Ukraine's defeat, then they are making a significant mistake in the interests of the Russian Federation".
