The Russian occupation army struck a foreign vessel with a ballistic missile, which was en route to Italy carrying a load of corn. This incident occurred during the Russian attack on Odessa on the night of October 6.
According to reports from the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine, on the night of October 6, Russian invaders targeted the "Yuzhny" seaport. A civilian ship sustained damage.
"They committed yet another act of maritime terrorism, grossly violating the laws and customs of war. The civilian vessel "PARESA," flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, was damaged during a nighttime missile and drone attack near one of the docks in the "Yuzhny" seaport," emphasized the AMPU.
The statement notes that the ballistic missile struck directly into the open hold of the vessel, which was loaded with grain. It is known that there were about 6,000 tons of Ukrainian corn on board, which was scheduled to depart for Italy the following morning.
The crew of the bulk carrier consists of 15 citizens from Egypt and Syria. The agency reports that, fortunately, the foreign sailors were unharmed.
"The aggressor country, as is its habit, claimed to have destroyed a military cargo. However, as before, this information does not match reality. Photos from the scene clearly testify to the true nature of the cargo. This incident is yet another proof that Russia continues its grain terrorism, attempting to undermine Ukraine's export capabilities and threatening global food security," the administration emphasized.
