The European Investment Bank has signed agreements with Ukraine for €1 billion in investments.

Европейский инвестиционный банк заключил соглашение с Украиной на €1 млрд инвестиций.

"Today, we signed important agreements with both the government and key Ukrainian banks to mobilize around €1 billion in investments," said Calviño.

She emphasized that supporting Ukraine is the top priority for the EIB.

"I am pleased to be here to announce new major projects for small and medium-sized enterprises, energy, water supply, and other essential services that will help people continue their daily lives and support the country's economic resilience, as well as lay the foundation for a stronger Ukraine on its path to EU membership," noted the president.

The agency reports that among the signed agreements with the EIB are the projects "Restoration of Ukraine III" (€100 million), "Restoration of Ukraine's Water Supply" (€100 million), "Centralized Heating in Ukraine" (€100 million), and support for the restoration of "Ukrhydroenergo" (€120 million).

They plan to allocate €500 million to support small and medium-sized enterprises, and €40 million for the implementation of a unified emergency assistance number "112" and a nationwide emergency call system in Ukraine.

The European Investment Bank also signed an agreement to provide €16.5 million to promote renewable energy in Ukraine.

On the Ukrainian government's website, it was reported after the meeting with Calviño by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal that the overall EIB project portfolio in Ukraine includes 25 projects in the fields of transport, social infrastructure, and energy, totaling €4.95 billion.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the EIB has mobilized over €2 billion to support Ukraine," said the head of government.

According to him, further investments are needed, particularly in border crossing points and road infrastructure, small and medium businesses, municipalities, and the energy sector.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also met with the head of the EIB, which he mentioned in his evening address, the transcript of which was published by his press service.

"I just had a meeting with the head of the European Investment Bank. This is about supporting Ukraine – an additional $2 billion for Ukraine: funds for our energy sector, for our housing programs, for infrastructure projects," said the President of Ukraine.
