"Dear Minister Elon Musk, congratulations on your appointment and the decisions you are making. The announced closure of the USAID agency also impacts the internal affairs of the Slovak Republic," wrote Fico.
The Slovak Prime Minister emphasized that funds from USAID were allegedly used for political reforms and to support certain parties.
"In order to separate beneficial and advantageous projects from blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Slovak Republic, I believe it is appropriate to request that you provide the available information regarding the subsidies and grants given to non-governmental organizations, media outlets, and individual journalists who have operated and are still active in the Slovak Republic. Only from incomplete public sources is it clear that USAID has supported them with grants amounting to several million dollars over a relatively short period," Fico stated.
The head of the Slovak government added that he is willing to meet with Musk in person to discuss other projects that he believes would be "mutually beneficial for Slovak-American relations."
