According to the Ministry of Defense, the dismissal order was signed on October 31.
"Babel" reported on September 19 that a month prior, the President's Office instructed the Main Inspection of the Ministry of Defense to assess the effectiveness of the combat training centers. During the meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's headquarters on September 16, Voronchenko reported the findings of the inspection to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The details of the report are classified; however, sources present at the meeting indicated that the presentation was critical, with Voronchenko discussing numerous mistakes and shortcomings.
In response, the president tasked the General Staff with developing a plan to improve the situation.
A source from "Babel" stated that after the meeting, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov summoned Voronchenko and informed him of his dismissal from the position of Chief Inspector, but Umerov did not explain the reason for this decision.
According to MP Marianna Bezuhla, Voronchenko was dismissed following this report. She noted that this was allegedly done by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at the request of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
MP from "Holos," Solomiya Bobrovska wrote on Facebook that she warned Umerov that, in her opinion, Voronchenko's dismissal was "mistaken" and a "loss for the security and defense sector and, in particular, for the ministry itself."
"The logic behind the dismissal is completely unclear and currently appears to be either unfounded or political," Bobrovska stated.
At the same time, two independent sources from "Babel" within the defense agencies suggest that the report and the dismissal are unrelated events and that there is no conflict between Syrskyi and Voronchenko.
