"The government has approved the draft state budget for 2025 for the second reading. Despite certain amendments, the main priority remains unchanged – defense, military capability, and security of Ukraine," he wrote.
Shmyhal noted that 2.225 trillion UAH is proposed to be allocated for defense needs.
"All funds from Ukrainian taxpayers will be used exclusively for ensuring the security and defense forces, for the production and procurement of new weapons, drones, and equipment. The budget's priorities also include the social sphere, education, and healthcare," the head of the government emphasized.
He mentioned that for the second reading, state budget expenditures have been increased by 50 billion UAH, with the majority, 24 billion UAH, allocated for education: for additional payments to teachers (12 billion UAH) and for investment projects (12 billion UAH).
According to Shmyhal, an additional 6.3 billion UAH is proposed for healthcare, and another 5 billion UAH for veteran support.
"The road fund will not be financed in 2025, but we are allocating 12.6 billion UAH for the repair of sections critical for defense and the functioning of the state economy. We also planned to continue the work of the 'eRecovery' program and its full financing," he explained.
According to Shmyhal, "this budget project addresses the main challenges" facing the state of Ukraine.
"This is our guarantee that Ukraine will have the necessary resources to withstand, to win, and to become even stronger," the head of the government stressed.
The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Shmyhal in Odesa.
