The Constitutional Court of Moldova has validated the results of the referendum on the country's accession to the EU.

Конституционный суд Молдовы подтвердил легитимность результатов референдума о присоединении страны к Европейскому Союзу.

According to the results of the plebiscite, a provision will be added to the Constitution of Moldova stating that the republic's accession to the EU is an irreversible goal.

The decision is final and cannot be appealed. The text of the constitution must be published in the official journal (it is called the Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova).

"The text presented at the national referendum for amending the constitution does not affect the sovereign, independent, and unitary nature of the Republic of Moldova, nor its status of permanent neutrality. Furthermore, the content of the initiative to revise the constitution does not imply the suppression of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens or their guarantees," said Domnica Manole, the chairwoman of the Constitutional Court.

She noted that two judges, Sergiu Curcan and Vladimir Curcan, voted against approving the results of the referendum.
