BMW has announced that illegal exports have been halted and all individuals involved have been dismissed.
The agency noted that the Munich-based company effectively confirmed a previous report by Business Insider regarding the transfer of over 100 premium BMW vehicles to Russian buyers.
The corporation emphasizes that it adheres to a "strict embargo" on vehicle supplies to Russians.
dpa reports that products from various companies are being sold in Russia circumventing sanctions through so-called gray imports.
The Moscow Times points out that Belarus is assisting in bypassing EU sanctions on vehicle supplies to Russia, having "become a key transshipment point, especially for luxury cars."
"At the end of May this year, the EU decided to close this loophole; however, Germany and France opposed this, stating that Brussels should focus not on cars but on goods used by Moscow for military purposes. Nevertheless, in July, the EU imposed restrictions against Belarus to stop vehicle supplies to Russia circumventing sanctions," the publication explains.
