"In recent days, I have received a flood of messages on my phone from pranksters/malefactors posing as American officials, either asking for direct contacts of our officials or urgently requesting a conversation (usually pretending to be from some secret phone)," she wrote.
The diplomat emphasized that she is in constant contact with her partners.
"[We] also use exclusively verified communication channels, so we have caught all such cases immediately and reported them to law enforcement. However, given the surge in such contacts and the relatively good quality of execution, I decided to write here to draw everyone's attention to the activation of malefactors (aggressive northern neighbors?),” Markarova stated.
She urged everyone to remain vigilant and to verify contacts from unknown numbers, email addresses, and messengers.
