"I am in communication with President Trump; we have had several meetings and discussions. I do not need intermediaries from other countries, or various politicians looking to gain publicity from this," said Zelensky.
He added that he does not require intermediaries "even within our own country."
According to Zelensky, Trump cannot provide answers to many questions due to his legal circumstances, as he is not yet in office at the White House. At the same time, the Ukrainian president emphasized his hope for closer ties after Trump's inauguration.
"We will meet, and only after that will I be able to tell you which parts of this [victory] plan are supported by President Trump and which might not be. Perhaps he wants to add something of his own. I truly believe and hope that he will strengthen our plan. Strengthening the relations between Ukraine and the United States," the president stated.
Zelensky specifically criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for his attempts at "mediation."
