In the center of Kyiv, on Khreshchatyk Street, a man filmed a flowerbed near the "Maidan Nezalezhnosti" metro station, where yellow and blue flags were placed to honor the memory of Ukrainian soldiers who fell during the war against the Russian Federation. He was verbally abusing patriots and disrespecting the fallen fighters.
Law enforcement discovered videos during their social media monitoring that captured the man’s derogatory remarks. The offender has already been apprehended, as reported by the National Police of Ukraine:
"Police officers, together with SBU employees and patrol officers, detained the offender. He turned out to be a 45-year-old native of Kharkiv, who has recently been living in the capital."
Law enforcement has initiated proceedings under part 2 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code (justification or recognition of the legitimacy of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine). The offender faces a penalty of restriction or imprisonment for up to five years.
Journalists found videos where the man insults patriots. In one of the clips, the offender repeats narratives from Russian propaganda, referring to Ukraine's defenders as "fascists."
