"Our current reality is such that there are three occupying governments on the territory of Georgia. One is in the [South Ossetian] city of Tskhinvali, one is in the [Abkhazian] city of Sukhumi, and one is in the city of Tbilisi. In other words, these are Russian self-proclaimed governments," he stated.
The former president of Georgia believes that only after defeating "Russian influence in Georgia" will Georgians have the opportunity to communicate with their compatriots "both in occupied Ossetia, and in occupied Abkhazia, and primarily in occupied Georgia."
"Right now, we have a specific situation: Russian troops, Russian thugs, Russian accomplices have occupied the city of Tbilisi. And we are trying to liberate it," Margvelashvili declared.
He supported the European Parliament's decision to not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia and to call for new voting.
"The firmer we stand [for our values], the greater support we will have from our European partners. This decision is appropriate; it reflects the objective reality of what has occurred. Our elections were stolen, but not just the elections; they stole our historical decision. The fact that they [in the EU] are responding appropriately to this is only considering that we are standing on the streets of Tbilisi and not allowing the occupying regime to take hold in our country," the former president believes.
He expressed the opinion that the protests in Georgia "resonate with the heroic Ukrainian people and their heroic resistance."
