"We had one of our first meetings with colleagues from various channels that assist us in combating disinformation, which still seeps through in some areas. Therefore, I have said and continue to say that as long as there is war, we need a unified marathon. It is essential for us to adopt a common approach that will counter the propaganda being spread by the Russian Federation against us," the minister stated.
According to him, during the meeting with media representatives, it was concluded that the marathon should be a project of a "more educational nature," where the essence of Ukrainian culture will be explained and the plans for its preservation discussed.
"I believe that 'Єдині новини' can serve as a platform where we can discuss all of this and eliminate the hostile Russian narratives that have been instilled during various periods of Ukraine's development," Tochitsky added.
In this context, he was asked about censorship. When a journalist pointed out that Western partners are sensitive to this issue, Tochitsky responded that he was unaware of any censorship being referred to, and that all ministry messages have a return address where "you can always write and express your dissatisfaction or differing opinion."
"If, in the same 'Єдині новини,' there is a conversation with a particular guest, I do not recall anyone specifically inviting or excluding any speaker," he continued. "In my work, I initially engage with both the majority in politics and the minority. But I have said and will continue to say: as long as the war continues, 'Єдині новини' will be there. However, we must, as in everything, produce a higher quality product to make it interesting. It is very important for us to create truly strategic communications for the present – not only for the outside world but also internally."
Without a real discussion of ongoing processes, Ukraine will find it difficult to win the war, he stated.
"We must all be convinced that we are doing everything for victory. And not just for our own victory, but for the victory of the entire democratic world," Tochitsky added, noting that in his upcoming 100 days in office, he plans to implement approximately 100 steps.
