Russian company Gazprom announced the suspension of natural gas supplies to Austria.

Российский "Газпром" сообщил о прекращении поставок природного газа в Австрию.

The cessation of supplies was "long anticipated, and Austria has taken preparatory measures," noted the head of the Austrian government.

According to him, the country's gas storage facilities are adequately filled, and "no home will be cold," as reported by the agency.

OMV Gas Marketing & Trading, prior to Nehammer's announcement, reported receiving a notification from "Gazprom" regarding the suspension of natural gas supplies under existing contracts starting from November 16.

Previously, the company informed that the international arbitration court sided with it in the dispute with "Gazprom" over supply violations to Germany. The court's decision includes compensation to the Austrian side amounting to €230 million plus penalties and reimbursement of legal costs, as stated in the company's announcement. OMV Gas Marketing & Trading suggested that such a ruling could lead to the cessation of gas supplies from the Russian Federation.
