Sazonov: Poroshenko's companies are building assets by exploiting unpaid taxes in Ukraine.

Сазонов: Компании Порошенко накапливают активы, уклоняясь от уплаты налогов в Украине.

"Poroshenko is more active than others in promoting his support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, claiming to be one of the largest donors to the military. The last report from the Poroshenko Fund and his NGO 'Sprava Hromad' was in December 2023, when they announced a figure of over 4 billion UAH. The fifth president, who dreams of becoming the seventh, insists that the lion's share of the funds comes from him and the profits of his companies. However, there are doubts about this," wrote the military expert.

He reminded that Poroshenko owns many companies and shared his version of how this capital is currently being utilized.

"The Poroshenko family has a vast business empire: ROSHEN, agriculture, media, finance, glass manufacturing, real estate, etc. There is information that the foreign and Ukrainian companies owned by Poroshenko and his family are forming asset pools through unpaid taxes in Ukraine, while these assets are being legitimized by acquiring government and foreign securities, which accrue corresponding interest," stated Sazonov.

The politician primarily purchases domestic government bonds – these are funds that citizens lend to the state so it can support the economy and finance the military, the expert added.

"The state repays these loans with interest. It is likely that Poroshenko directs these interest payments to his 'charitable,' or rather PR projects. This means that with a high degree of probability, all these (or a significant portion of them) drones, trailers, EW systems, etc. could have been purchased by Poroshenko using the interest accrued by the state on government bonds, which he acquired due to the taxes he has not paid to that same state. We are talking about approximately 2.5 billion UAH," he speculated.

Sazonov stated that this accounts for more than half of the "charitable expenses" that the Poroshenko Fund reported a year ago.

"By the way, Poroshenko purchases bonds through his own International Investment Bank, which earns millions of hryvnias in commissions from the charity of its owner. According to the politician's declaration, only in the first month of autumn 2024, he enriched himself by one billion hryvnias. This is 125 times more than the oligarch earned in the year before Russia's invasion. So to speak, he is holding the financial front," the political scientist concluded.
