"Kirillov was a war criminal and a completely legitimate target, as he issued orders to use prohibited chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers. Such a dishonorable end awaits all who kill Ukrainians. Retribution for war crimes is inevitable," stated a source in the SBU.

Kirillov and his driver were killed around 6:00 AM by a bomb blast in front of a building on Ryazansky Avenue. According to media reports, the explosive was attached to a scooter parked near the entrance.

On December 16, Ukraine announced his suspicion for the use of toxic substances by the occupiers at the front.

The Russian Telegram channel "Potok" published a recording allegedly showing the moment of the high-ranking occupier's explosion in Moscow.

Kirillov is also known for conducting public briefings at the Russian Ministry of Defense, claiming to discuss supposed terrorist attacks being prepared in Russia. In March 2022, he reported that a network of more than 30 biolabs had been established in Ukraine. In May of the same year, he informed about "inhumane Pentagon experiments on Ukrainian citizens," asserting that dangerous biological agents were being tested in Ukraine.
