The court has chosen a preventive measure for the BMW driver who, the day before, caused a fatal accident on the Lviv-Ternopil highway, reports the regional prosecutor's office.
It has been noted that the driver has been placed in custody without the right to post bail. Additionally, the court has imposed a preventive measure of custody with the possibility of bail for the 31-year-old passenger of the BMW, who, along with the driver, fled the scene of the accident and did not assist the victims.
Accident near Lviv: what is known
On the morning of December 15, information emerged about a major accident on the Lviv-Ternopil highway involving a DAF truck, a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, and a BMW passenger car. Seven people died in the accident, and three others were hospitalized.
Subsequently, the National Police apprehended the driver of the passenger car, who had fled the scene after the accident. Upon examination, law enforcement discovered that the 24-year-old man was intoxicated.
According to data from the National Police, the BMW driver, a 23-year-old resident of the Lviv region, crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding with a DAF truck, which then lost control and crashed into the Mercedes Sprinter minibus.
