The shooter who opened fire at a hotel in the capital and fatally wounded a man has been apprehended, reports the Kyiv police.

"More detailed information will follow," the statement reads.

As reported by UNIAN, the incident occurred at the Sky Loft hotel, located near the "Sport Palace" metro station in Ukraine's capital.

The Pechersk Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv stated that a shooting took place in one of Kyiv's hotels on the night of November 23, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old man, with several others injured.

It was noted that the incident occurred around 01:00. A conflict arose between two groups within the hotel, escalating into a fight during which one of the participants drew a weapon and fired several shots at the opponents.

Reports indicated that the 27-year-old man died at the scene from his injuries, while a friend of the victim and a security guard of the establishment were also injured. The wounded individuals were hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

Law enforcement clarified that one of the participants in the fight was detained, while the shooter was still being sought.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident under two articles of the Criminal Code: Part 1 of Article 115 (intentional homicide) and Part 2 of Article 296 (hooliganism). The suspect faces up to fifteen years in prison.

Additionally, according to activist Dmytro Hanul, the detained shooter is allegedly a "criminal authority" from Zaporizhzhia. Hanul later added that the shooter, Dmytro Rashevskiy, a former athlete with a criminal record for various offenses, opened fire with a Glock pistol. He released a screenshot from surveillance cameras, claiming that the suspect hid the gun under his vehicle. According to the Odessa activist, the victim was Alexander Kanazirskiy, a public oversight officer of the municipal guard in the city of Yuzhne, Odessa region.

"According to the information I received, a scuffle broke out between two groups at the Sky Loft hotel in the capital, leading to gunfire. As a result, a city council representative was fatally wounded, and another suffered a gunshot injury. The cause of the scuffle could be typical criminal disputes over influence in the Odessa region," Hanul wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to the activist, Georgiy Arabadzhiy also sustained injuries. Hanul published several photos, one of which purportedly shows Ivan Surev, the head of the "Municipal Guard" in Yuzhne, along with other representatives of the municipal enterprise, including the deceased and the injured.

The activist questions why representatives of the municipal guard from Odessa region were in the capital and expresses surprise at the lack of comments from local authorities regarding the incident. He claims that Kanazirskiy allegedly assisted the municipal guard on a voluntary basis but was officially approved at a city council session and issued an official ID.

Furthermore, according to Hanul, the detained shooter is supposedly a "criminal authority" from Zaporizhzhia. He later added that the shooter, Dmytro Rashevskiy, a former athlete with a criminal background, opened fire with a Glock pistol. He shared a screenshot from surveillance footage, which, according to the activist, shows the suspect hiding the gun under his vehicle.

The activist reiterates his question about the presence of municipal guard representatives from Odessa in the capital and expresses confusion over the absence of comments from local authorities. He states that Kanazirskiy was allegedly assisting the municipal guard voluntarily but was officially confirmed at a city council session and provided with an official identification card.
