In particular, the court has placed Gorbenko under arrest for two months, with the option to post bail in the amount of 25 million UAH.
Gorbenko was detained in connection with a failure of defense and loss of control of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv direction in May of last year.
The investigation believes that the former brigadier general assigned positions to the 125th Brigade that were "inappropriate for its combat capabilities" and failed to reinforce them with other subordinate units. He was unaware of the enemy's main attack directions, did not carry out necessary maneuvers in time, and did not call for support from aviation and artillery, note the State Bureau of Investigations (GBR).
Moreover, the Bureau suggests that the former brigade commander, knowing about the impending offensive by the occupiers, did not conduct the necessary mobilization of personnel at the positions, did not utilize reserves, and was unaware of the actual situation on the battlefield.
