Trump's advisors have repeatedly advised the Ukrainian president's team to forgo military-style attire during their visit to the White House. They noted that a business suit would present a "more respectful" appearance.
On February 28, Zelensky visited the White House not in a business suit, but in a more formal black outfit adorned with Ukraine's national symbols, the media reported.
As he greeted Zelensky on the steps of the West Wing, Trump shook his hand and remarked that the Ukrainian president was "all dressed up."
During the conversation between the politicians in the Oval Office, which was broadcast by the channel "Mi – Україна," White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked Zelensky if he owned a suit. The Ukrainian president replied that he would wear one after the war in Ukraine ends.
"Maybe something like yours. Maybe better, I don't know. We'll see. Perhaps something cheaper," Zelensky said.
