"We categorically consider and condemn revisionist statements or actions that infringe upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which contradict international norms, the UN Charter, as well as fundamental democratic values. Against the backdrop of such statements, attempts by Georgescu to position himself as an 'independent' politician appear absurd: the points he raises are entirely identical to those of Russian propaganda, indicating a complete dependence on his masters in Moscow," the statement reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its conviction that it is in the interest of Romania and the Romanian people to achieve a just and sustainable peace in neighboring Ukraine, and to develop both states in a climate of peace, security, and prosperity. The ministry emphasized that such developments are not part of the Kremlin's plans or those of its 'puppets.'
"We appreciate that Romania and the Romanian people have firmly supported Ukraine since the outset of Russia's full-scale war against our state. We look forward to further developing friendly Ukrainian-Romanian relations, which are characterized by strategic partnership, for the benefit of our two nations," the statement continued.
For its part, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the department "strongly reaffirms its firm position" in support of Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence within its internationally recognized borders. "This position is clear and is based on international law, national interests, and a long-term foreign policy grounded in values," the statement said on social media platform X.
