"The new President of the United States can either strengthen support for Ukraine or weaken it. A reduction in support for Ukraine would allow Russia to occupy us more. Weakening support for Ukraine will not give us the chance to win this war. And that is the truth," said Zelensky. "Therefore, we are not discussing compromises regarding territories, but rather we are talking about potential diplomatic avenues, which depend on U.S. policy. If it does not weaken, and if the United States truly desires to end the war quickly."
If Republican candidate Donald Trump, upon winning the election, intends to "simply force Ukraine to give everything up" in order to negotiate with Russia, Zelensky believes that this is currently impossible.
"Ukraine does not recognize these [occupied] territories as [Russian], no matter who wants it, no matter who wins in the United States, and no matter how long [illegitimate Russian President Vladimir] Putin remains the leader of the Russian Federation. This is impossible," concluded the head of the Ukrainian state.
