In Russia, the governor honored the memory of the repressed while simultaneously unveiling a monument to Stalin.

В России губернатор одновременно увековечил память репрессированных и открыл памятник Сталину.

The publication notes that a monument to Stalin has been erected in the museum-reserve "Vologda Exile" (the site where Stalin was exiled in the early 20th century due to his revolutionary activities).

"The Vologda governor laid flowers in memory of the victims of political repression, and then unveiled the monument to Stalin. All of this was accomplished by regional governor Georgy Filimonov in a single day," Astra pointed out and published photos from both events.

Filimonov himself shared a photo of the Stalin monument and the memorial for victims of political repression on Telegram published.

"Our history. Both its tragic pages and great victories. We honor and accept it in all its diversity," he wrote.

The governor did not specify which particular "victory" of dictator Stalin he was referring to.
