"Today, February 9, during a social media monitoring, law enforcement discovered a post featuring a photo of a defaced street sign named after Irina Farion," the statement said.
Authorities are conducting an investigation and identifying individuals involved in the offense.
Video footage of the incident from surveillance cameras has been circulated on social media.
Specifically, it was shared on Facebook by Farion's daughter, Sofia Semchyshyn.
The video shows two masked individuals vandalizing the sign on the night of February 9, around 6:15 AM.
On the same day, February 9, the sign bearing Farion's name was restored in Lviv, as reported on Facebook by city council member Andriyan Gutnyk from the "Svoboda" party.
