"I hope that [U.S. President] Donald Trump does not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, as the late U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger did for the doomed Vietnam agreement. After the Nobel Prize, 'Red' Vietnam effectively took over free Vietnam within a few years," Yatsenyuk explained.
He noted that the illegitimate president of the aggressor state, Russia, Vladimir Putin, is willing to end the war only if Ukraine surrenders.
According to Yatsenyuk, the clear objective of the Russians is to seize Ukraine, and they have already declared their "red lines." In contrast, the United States has not articulated its "red lines." He emphasized that a plan should be developed by Ukraine, the European Union, and their American allies.
"We are discussing a peacekeeping operation and an agreement on rare earth metals. But right now, the main goal is a basic peace agreement. Neither Ukraine nor the European Union are present at the negotiating table; we are not involved in shaping the framework of these negotiations and know nothing about what is happening behind the scenes. Why contemplate a peacekeeping operation when it is unclear how to stop the war?" the head of the KBF emphasized.
At the same time, Yatsenyuk stated that the American side has "effectively removed" the prospect of Ukraine's NATO membership from the agenda of negotiations.
He also commented on the American side's statements regarding the "unrealistic" restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.
"Everything is realistic. Several decades ago, many people claimed that uniting East and West Germany was absolutely unrealistic and that the Berlin Wall would exist forever. But the Berlin Wall is no more. And the USSR is gone as well," Yatsenyuk noted.
He reminded that Ukraine has already "paid" for stable peace with hundreds of thousands of lives lost and injured.
"What compromises can Ukraine still offer? We ask for an honest, sustainable, and just peace. Period," Yatsenyuk declared.
