"The return of Ukrainians is a complex issue. First and foremost, I would like you to note that not all Ukrainians are welcomed abroad. This is not part of a plan to bring Ukrainians back, but there are facts. Ukrainians working abroad prefer that their compatriots remain there. They are the leaders and the respective countries. Ukrainians who are not working abroad are searching for ways to compel them to return to Ukraine. This is also a fact," the president remarked.
According to him, in Germany, out of 1.1 million Ukrainians, at least 300,000 "are not working anywhere and are not even trying to find employment."
"And there are many such people throughout Europe […] One way or another, this segment of Ukrainians will return because the social benefits and support available abroad will disappear. This is a fact. They will not disappear because of us […] Simply, countries will stop providing assistance to them," Zelensky emphasized.
