In Kherson, a guard of a torture chamber that operated during the city's occupation has been detained. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the suspect is a junior inspector at the Kherson pre-trial detention center who supported the Russian invaders at the beginning of the full-scale war.
As a result, he was "appointed" as a guard in the Russian torture facility that the enemy set up in the building of the seized detention center.
"While in this 'position', the traitor guarded the cells where the occupiers mass imprisoned local residents. The majority of the victims were among the participants of the resistance movement in southern Ukraine," notes the SBU.
Additionally, the suspect encouraged his acquaintances to join the Russian occupation institution, promising potential candidates a "salary" in rubles and a favorable attitude from the aggressor.
After the liberation of Kherson, the offender tried to evade justice by constantly changing his place of residence.
Law enforcement identified the traitor's location and arrested him. During the search, a mobile phone containing evidence of his crimes was seized from the suspect.
The detained individual is now facing charges under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 7 of Article 111-1 (collaborative activity).
The offender is currently in custody. He faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
