"Zelensky cannot claim to represent the will of the people of Ukraine until he restores press freedom and stops canceling elections," Musk wrote.
He did not clarify his concerns regarding press freedom in Ukraine.
Musk's tweet was a response to a statement from the White House about the necessity of holding elections in Ukraine.
"In America, presidential elections are held every four years – even during wartime. During the Civil War, we held elections. During World War II, we held elections. Before President Zelensky decides to lecture the American president again, he should also hold elections," the Trump administration believes.
The American Civil War from 1861 to 1865 was not associated with external aggression, unlike the situation in Ukraine in the 21st century.
During World War II, there were no combat operations taking place on U.S. territory.
