Zelensky on the Hungary agreement: The document lacks support for Ukraine's NATO membership, so it remains unsigned. That's final.

Зеленский о соглашении с Венгрией: Документ не подписан, поскольку не содержит поддержки Украины в НАТО. Точка.

The video recording was published on the Facebook page of the President's Office.

"I am truly very interested in having close, friendly, productive, and proactive relations between Ukraine and Hungary, and I advocate for this. I believe our societies respect each other. I am very grateful for many things, both historically and geopolitically, as this is important for us," said Zelensky. "It is undoubtedly important for us to maintain clarity in agreements, and there are issues regarding minorities, and I believe we have accomplished a lot. The European Commission has drawn conclusions that there are no remarks from us on this issue."

However, as the president pointed out, the bilateral document "contains not only what one side wants," but "includes what is important for the security, present, and future of both sides."

"Support for Ukraine in the EU is important for us, and support for Ukraine by Hungary in NATO is also important. The document does not currently include support for Ukraine from Hungary in NATO. And since this is absent, the document has not been signed. That is the end of the matter," Zelensky noted.

According to him, if Ukraine and Hungary respect each other, "there should be no questions."

"Ukraine supports what exists in the EU… Hungary, which exists in NATO. That's my stance. [...] If you ask me any question about Ukraine's attitude towards Hungary, you will receive a prompt response. We are ready for anything to ensure there are no questions between us," emphasized Zelensky.

At the same time, the president considers it "incorrect" when there are remarks on every Ukrainian issue in Hungary.

"For instance, regarding the EU: wait, there are questions for Ukraine. Concerning NATO: wait, these are 'red lines' concerning the Russian reaction, whether Ukraine is in NATO or not. This cannot be the case. A bilateral agreement, a memorandum – this is about respect. And whether you see me as an equal. This is the EU and NATO. This is security for us," Zelensky concluded.
