"Today is truly a special day, and one news story captures global attention. The undeniable results of the elections in America. The clear leadership of President Trump. I congratulate him on this victory. For us in Ukraine, and throughout Europe, it has been extremely important to consistently hear the words of the then 45th President of the United States about peace through strength – peace through strength. And when this becomes the guiding principle of the 47th President of the United States, both America and the world will undoubtedly benefit," said Zelensky.
According to the President of Ukraine, it is precisely because "people seek certainty, desire freedom, and a normal life" that they now recall the U.S. President from 1981 to 1989, Ronald Reagan.
"For us, this means living without Russian aggression, with a strong America, a strong Ukraine, and strong allies. We have already spoken this year with President Trump – both over the phone in July and in person during our meeting in September – and those were productive discussions. There is interaction at the team level. As always, we undeniably value the bipartisan support of the United States. We discussed all points of the victory plan. At the meeting in New York, as well as during meetings in Washington – in Congress and at the White House," he noted.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine and the U.S. have "the potential for stronger cooperation" in terms of defense, economy, and the future after the war.
"This is what will make both Ukraine, America, and the entire free world more successful," believes the President of Ukraine.
