President Zelensky referred to the conversation as "quite lengthy and detailed."
"We discussed defense support – various forms, packages of weapons for Ukraine. We talked about investments in the procurement of ammunition for Ukraine. Additionally, we addressed the placement of partner contingents and the training of our military. And of course – the global situation. We are coordinating our positions," he stated.
The press service of the President of Ukraine separately reported that the conversation was conducted over the phone, during which Zelensky expressed gratitude to Macron and the French people for their support of Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression and their contribution to saving lives.
"The leaders thoroughly discussed the situation on the battlefield, particularly in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions. The President of Ukraine also spoke about the progress of the Kursk operation, the losses among North Korean military personnel, which already amount to 4,000 killed and wounded, as well as the capture of two North Korean soldiers who are providing testimony to SBU investigators," the release stated.
On January 5, Zelensky announced data on the losses of the DPRK army amounting to 3,800 people.
Among the topics discussed by the presidents, the Office of the President mentioned issues related to strengthening Ukraine's air defense and the need for precision long-range weaponry.
"He [Zelensky] also proposed that France join in financing Ukrainian arms production and the procurement of artillery shells. Strengthening Ukrainian positions on the battlefield and protecting Ukrainians from Russian missile and drone attacks is critically important on the path to achieving a just and lasting peace," the release noted.
