"Today, I instructed to strengthen the personnel of our troops in the Donetsk region – Major General Mikhail Drapaty has been appointed to lead the operational-strategic grouping of troops 'Khortytsia'. These are the most intense areas of combat," said Zelensky.
He noted that Drapaty will remain the commander of the Ground Forces.
"This will help to combine the combat work of the army with the proper preparation of brigades. It is the needs at the front that should determine the standards for staffing and training brigades," explained the President of Ukraine.
Previously, the commander of the OSHV 'Tavria' was Andriy Hnatov.
"Major General Andriy Hnatov has been transferred to the General Staff as Deputy Chief of Staff, and his task is to elevate the training of operational headquarters and enhance the quality of interaction between headquarters and the front. We discussed these and some other changes with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi – tasks have been set at all levels," emphasized Zelensky.
The President of Ukraine reported that on this day, he held numerous meetings with military personnel and also spoke with Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov about the situation at the front.
"Our key directions are the Donetsk region, as well as the areas related to the Kursk operation. Soon it will be six months of our active actions in the Kursk region to protect Ukrainian land. We are maintaining a buffer zone on Russian territory to safeguard our Sumy and Kharkiv from Russian offensives. I am grateful to all our warriors who defend Ukrainian positions and eliminate the occupier," said Zelensky.
