"I held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council. We discussed the situation regarding the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) and the abuses by officials from various state bodies concerning disability claims. Reports were provided by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, regarding inspections and investigations into criminal offenses. Numerous violations have been established, and it is evident that there are fake disabilities among officials," – he wrote.
The President mentioned that he spoke with the officials about "the steps that need to be taken at the government level," and they specifically reviewed the situation within the Ukrainian prosecutor's office, as reported by the Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin.
"The National Security and Defense Council has identified a list of decisions to restore justice. These have been approved by decree. In particular, this includes the digitization of the processes for all stages of the medical and social expert commissions, a real verification of the declarations of MSEC members, a review and reassessment of unjustified disability decisions for officials, and an audit of the corresponding pension payments, along with legislative changes for the urgent reform of the medical and social expertise system in Ukraine, as well as a reassessment of the system and mechanism for pension payments to officials of state bodies," – Zelensky reported.
According to him, "responsibility for the situation must now be personal."
"I instructed the Prime Minister of Ukraine to address the issue at the level of the central executive authorities, including the relevant ministries. Personnel decisions are necessary. There must also be political accountability from the Prosecutor General regarding the situation in the Ukrainian prosecutor's office," – Zelensky stated.
