According to Zelensky, he discussed this matter with U.S. President Donald Trump in September 2024 during an official meeting in New York. The Ukrainian leader is now planning to revisit this topic with a more "detailed plan," which will encompass opportunities for American companies both in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and in the extraction of natural resources.
The president reminded that Ukraine possesses the largest reserves of uranium and titanium in Europe. He emphasized that it is "not in the interest of the United States" for such resources to fall under the control of the aggressor nation, Russia, and potentially end up in North Korea, China, or Iran.
"We are talking not just about security, but also about money. Valuable natural resources for which we can offer our partners new investment opportunities," Zelensky noted.
