"I had a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. We discussed one-on-one the key priorities for further strengthening Ukraine's position in defending against Russian aggression. The main task remains to enhance air defense capabilities," wrote Zelensky.
He once again expressed gratitude for France's training of Ukrainian military personnel and hoped that "other partners will join these efforts and contribute to equipping additional Ukrainian brigades."
"We both see that reliable guarantees for peace are needed, which can realistically be brought closer. We continued to process President Macron's initiative regarding the presence of forces in Ukraine that can aid stabilization on the path to peace. Emmanuel informed me about his communication with other partners to implement all necessary steps for achieving peace," Zelensky noted.
The press service of the President of Ukraine clarified that Zelensky met with Macron in Brussels, marking their eighth meeting in 2024.
"The President of Ukraine conveyed a list of what is needed by defenders on the battlefield, as well as for strengthening air defense and long-range capabilities. He thanked France for all the defense support provided, with a total amount exceeding €5 billion, participation in most 'Ramstein' coalitions, and the training of the 'Anna Kyivska' brigade. Ukraine expects the start of training for a second strategic reserve brigade," the press release noted.
