The European Parliament has confirmed that Zurabishvili remains the legitimate president of Georgia.

Европейский парламент подтвердил легитимность Зурабишвили в роли президента Грузии.

The document was supported by 400 votes, while 63 deputies voted against it, and 81 abstained. It accuses the current authorities of election fraud and suppression of dissent, stating that new elections are the only way out of the political crisis in Georgia.

"The parliament refuses to acknowledge the self-proclaimed authorities of the ruling party 'Georgian Dream' following the fraudulent parliamentary elections on October 26, 2024, including the newly appointed president Mikheil Kavelashvili, and calls on the international community to join in boycotting the ruling elite of Georgia. Members of the European Parliament continue to recognize Salome Zurabishvili as the legitimate president of Georgia and urge the President of the European Council, António Costa, to invite her to represent the country at the upcoming meetings of the European Council and the European Political Community," the release states.

Deputies have called on the European Council and the authorities of EU member states to impose personal sanctions on officials and political leaders in Georgia who are responsible for the rollback of democracy, election fraud, and crimes against humanity.
