The Ukrainian Embassy in Greece has issued a strong protest against the "violent and provocative actions" carried out by members of the Communist Party of Greece during an event organized by the Ukrainian community in the municipality of Mandra-Idilia to commemorate the victims of the Holodomor. This was reported on the Facebook page of the diplomatic mission.
The embassy emphasized that it "strongly condemns this disgraceful disruption of an official event dedicated to events of historical and emotional significance for the Ukrainian people."
"These provocative actions, which led to physical assaults, including an attack on a Ukrainian diplomat resulting in bodily harm, are absolutely unacceptable and represent a gross violation of international norms that protect members of the diplomatic corps," the statement reads.
The embassy urged the Greek law enforcement authorities to promptly investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable, highlighting the "importance of adhering to the principles of respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, which are the foundations of modern democratic societies."
