"Prices for medications in pharmacies will be reduced. Yesterday, a meeting of key players in the pharmaceutical market concluded regarding the unjustified high prices for medications, initiated by the head of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko. The long-term efforts have finally yielded results!" – stated the association.
The authors of the announcement expressed their gratitude to Health Minister Viktor Lyashko, head of the parliamentary medical committee Mykhailo Radutskyi, and the participants in the pharmaceutical market who supported the proposals put forth by the parliamentary temporary investigative commission.
"These proposals will influence the demopolization of the market and the reduction of medication prices in pharmacies," – added the association.
They outlined the key decisions of the investigative commission:
- One distributor will be allowed to purchase no more than 20% of a single medication item from manufacturers for sale in pharmacies. This, according to the authors, will help demopolize the market, restore competition, and lower prices.
- Pharmacies will procure medications through an electronic catalog in the Prozorro procurement system. This catalog will be gradually created and implemented.
- Additionally, the meeting will propose increasing the volume of subsidized medications by expanding reimbursement programs.
"All these proposals were positively received by the majority of meeting participants. We sincerely believe that the collective desire to restore justice is destined for success," – summarized the European Pharmaceutical Association.
